Drake University Students Win “War on the Floor” at the NAB Show and BEA2011

Washington, D.C. – The Broadcast Education Association and the NAB Show are proud to announce that students from Drake University (Blue Team) are the winners of the 2011 “War on the Floor” competition in Las Vegas.
With over 3,000 votes cast, Drake University students Rebecca Altenhofen, Eamonn Cogan, Lauren Staller, and Rachel Yancey, with guidance from their faculty advisor Todd Evans, collected 52% of the total vote and won the competition. As the winning “War on the Floor” team, they each receive a $500 certificate from Artbeats, Inc. Congratulations also go to the runner-up, the Grey Team from Frostburg State University, comprised of students Kelly Courtney, Jaleesa Gregg, Emma Sisk, Asia Taylor, and faculty advisor Michael McAlexander.
“War on the Floor” was an intensive online – and onsite – series that took place during the 2011 NAB Show. Over the course of the four days, two teams – each of four students and one faculty advisor – were tasked with completing a scavenger hunt set throughout the entire convention – from conference programming to NAB’s exhibit floor – and in the process were asked to create unique content of their own with the tools and tricks they learned along the way. The students chronicled their experience and made daily videos of their journey. Each team received $750 in spending money and hotel accommodations.
