Dear Colleagues,
It is a pleasure to accept the nomination as the new District 1 Board of Directors Representative. As a short bio, I am associate professor in the Department of Communication and Theatre at Millersville University of Pennsylvania. I have a documentary in progress called “Raising Faith: Stories About Dyslexia,” and I teach a variety of creative and theoretic courses in the media and broadcasting program like video and film editing, television news and field production, web writing, script writing, leadership, and gender studies in the traditional classroom and online. I received my MA from Emerson College and my PhD from University of Maryland College Park. My first book Digital Media: Human-Media Relations, was published in the spring through Lexington Books. I live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with my husband and three children.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gregory Bray from SUNY New Paltz for his great work in District 1. His work to create District events and programming has made this BEA region stronger. Thank you for your effort on the board Gregory! You will be missed.
I look forward meeting many BEA members and member institutions in the district in the next two years. Pennsylvania has now officially made the transition from District 3 to District 1. Please get in touch if you have ideas for our district. We are making plans to host the next Super Regional conference in our region and hope to start a list of BEA faculty speakers who would like to share their expertise at other colleges in the region. We have so much great talent that it seems like a great idea to have a list of who might be interested in guest speaking in our classrooms. It can also strengthen a promotion and tenure application.
Sincerely,
Stacey Irwin
