Kim Fox BEA District 8 Campaign Statement
I am currently an associate professor of practice at the American University in Cairo in Cairo, Egypt.

I’ve been active with BEA since 2003 when I was a graduate student at Ohio University.

I’ve served as the vice chair and chair of the Curriculum, Assessment and Administration (CAA) division. Additionally, I’ have been active with the BEA Model Rubrics Project as well as the Assessment Bootcamp, both initiatives of the CAA division. I’m currently the co-vice chair for communication for the News division.

Over the past few years, I’ve consistently submitted student work for the BEA Media Festival of Arts. In 2014, one of my audio production students won the Best of Festival in the student audio category while another student placed first in the student audio – specialty category. We also had a second place winner in student audio for 2015.

Several of my colleagues are also members of BEA and our department/university has had and continues to have an institutional membership.

Proudly, over the years I have submitted many panels that have been accepted for BEA’s conference in Las Vegas and I’ve attended the conference annually for the past 6 years. During this time, I’ve introduced non-BEA members to the organization, encouraged them to attend the conference and to become BEA members.

Finally, supporting District 8 has always been on my conference agenda – no matter how early the meetings take place. We mobilize and discuss our concerns and strive to have a more visible role within BEA.

If given the opportunity to serve District 8, I will aim to increase our visibility within the organization and increase our visibility on an international level.

I’m hoping that I will receive your support.
