Call for Submissions in Innovative Teaching and Learning for 2-Year College and High School Faculty

Submission Deadline: December 15, 2025

The Two-Year College and Scholastic Interest division is pleased to announce a call for submissions from 2-year College, and high school faculty, highlighting your best class assignments/activities!  We are looking for your best ideas for successful and practical projects, or in-class activities that improve student learning.  Assignments and activities could come from any course you teach under the umbrella of radio, audio, TV, video, film, digital media, scriptwriting, broadcasting, or mass communication.  Basically, if it is a course consistent with the mission of BEA, it’s eligible for submission. 

We are looking for assignments/activities that are: 

  • Innovative 
  • Relevant 
  • Engaging 
  • Focused on course and program learning outcomes 
  • Focused on application 

To submit: 

  • Provide the course title and description for the course where students engage with the assignment or activity. 
  • Provide an abstract (up to one page) describing the assignment or activity, the learning outcomes, and what makes the assignment/activity effective and engaging for students.  You may also want to include a copy of your assignment handout. 
  • Provide samples of student work support your submission. 

The top three submissions will be presented as part of a 2-year College/Scholastic faculty showcase at BEA 2026.  In addition, the top three submissions will earn cash awards as follows: 

  • First Place: $250.00 
  • Second Place: $150.00 
  • Third Place: $100.00 

Submissions will be judged by a panel of community and technical college administrators.  Judges decisions will be final.
