I welcome the opportunity presented to serve as the BEA District 2 Representative. As a member of BEA for five years and a committed chair-person for the Media of Festival Arts, the time served has given me a valuable BEA experience. It would be my intent to maintain and develop the District Representative and its duties given the opportunity.
My BEA service began as a co-chair for the Media Festival of Arts in the Student Scriptwriting Competition for four years. My next step was to act as vice-chair for the Faculty Scriptwriting Competition where I presently serve.
I have currently worked in academia for 11 years and 10 of those years as the Chair of Cinema Arts for the School of Communication & Media. Presently my position is as the Assistant Dean in the School of Communication & Media primarily comprised of administrative duties. I operated as a producer/director in the Mid-Atlantic region in film and television for 20 years. My primary function for producing was event-like planning of large productions. The yearly budget was 8-12 million. For eight years I owned and operated a film school.
National film and television awards include an Academy Award, numerous Tellys, Cine, Worldfest-Houston, Addy and more.
If elected, I would use my years of experience and expertise to initiate and explore BEA District Representative opportunities.
