BEA Opens 2027 Awards and Grants Season
Washington, D.C. – The Broadcast Education Association (BEA) has opened its 2027 awards and grants season, offering faculty, graduate students and members of the media education community opportunities to apply for funding, submit scholarly and creative work, and nominate colleagues for national recognition.
Beginning September 1, BEA members can explore a wide range of opportunities, including faculty awards, research and creative grants, book awards, teaching awards, graduate student scholarships and honors, and scholarly research competitions. Deadlines vary by program, with several opportunities closing between October and December.
BEA’s annual awards program recognizes contributions across media education and scholarship. Faculty opportunities include the Distinguished Education Service Award, Lifetime Achievement in Scholarship and Creative Scholarship awards, BEA Book Awards, Research and Creative Grants, Innovation in Teaching Award, New Faculty Research Grant, and several specialized awards and grants. Graduate student opportunities include the Kenneth Harwood Outstanding Dissertation Award and scholarships supporting graduate study in electronic media and broadcast history.
Many of the recipients will be recognized during BEA’s annual convention in Las Vegas, to celebrate outstanding teaching, scholarship, creative work and service. Research grant recipients also present their funded work at the convention.
“There are a lot of opportunities for BEA members through our awards and grants program,” said BEA President Thom Baggerman, Point Park University, “We encourage members to review the programs, apply for funding and recognition, and nominate colleagues whose work deserves to be recognized.”
