- Serve as primary liaison for assigned Interest Division clusters; maintain regular communication with cluster division chairs.
- Attend Interest Division meetings and support the Interest Division chairs with Interest Division activities (in-person, virtual, or hybrid, etc.).
- Support Interest Division chairs with workload such as convention content, and assisting with panel, paper, and festival review process, as needed.
- Work with other Academic Directors to facilitate synergies between Interest Divisions.
- Facilitate Board approval processes for division bylaws changes, name/mission changes, and annual reports.
- Submit a written annual report for the Fall Board meeting covering each assigned division’s activities, using the standardized reporting template.
- Participate actively on at least one BEA Board committee or task force.
- Attend all Board and Academic Director meetings and contribute to BEA policy and budget development.
- Complete onboarding training; support incoming Academic Directors during transitions.
- Respond to all BEA-related correspondence in a timely manner.
Nominee Qualifications: Nominees must be a current full-time college/university faculty member in the electronic media discipline. International and Two-Year College members are eligible to be nominated for those designated board seats.
National At-Large Election Process: All individual Academic members are eligible to vote. International and Two-Year College members are eligible to vote for those designated board seats.
Academic Directors are elected annually to serve two-year terms which begin at the BEA annual convention in April. AD’s receive complimentary registrations to attend the annual convention in Las Vegas, and financial support to attend the fall board meeting.
