Broadcast Education Association District II Conference University of Alabama February 5-6, 2016 – Tuscaloosa, AL
The Broadcast Education Association announces a call for submissions to the 2016 BEA District II Regional Conference hosted by the University of Alabama. Submissions are being accepted in the following areas:
Papers and Research-in-Progress: Research topics may focus on any relevant area of broadcasting and/or electronic media. Completed papers will be peer-reviewed by at least two faculty judges. Papers should be submitted electronically as two separate files in a standard file format (.doc, docx, or .pdf): 1) a cover page with paper title and contact information for all authors (full name, title, institutional affiliation, email, and office and mobile phone numbers); and 2) title and paper body only—with author information removed. Research-in-progress submissions (abstracts or partial papers) will not be peer-reviewed with acceptance based solely on the originality and relevance of the topic and availability of space in the program. Panel Session Proposals: Panel session topics may focus on any relevant area of industry practice or instructional pedagogy related to broadcasting and/or electronic media. Panel proposals are welcome from full-time college faculty members whose primary focus is media research, production, or education. Proposals should be submitted electronically in a standard file format (.doc, docx, or .pdf). Please include: 1) your contact information (full name, title, institutional affiliation, email, and office and mobile phone numbers); 2) a 100-150 word abstract; and a tentative list of participants (with a maximum of four panelists). Faculty and Student Production Competitions: This competition is open to fulltime college faculty or student producers of creative works completed between September 2014 and December 2015. Audio, video and web-based multimedia entries may be submitted in any of the following categories: documentary, educational/promotional, narrative, hard news/feature news, and sports. An entry fee of $20 is required for each submission.
Conference Registration: $40 for BEA Members; $65 for non-members; and $30 for students. A late fee of $25 will be added for onsite registration. Registration includes attendance to all APSC Sports Symposium and BEA conference sessions, a Friday evening reception with appetizers, Saturday morning coffee and pastries, and a Saturday lunch.

Wednesday, December 23, 2016 is the deadline for student and faculty production entries. Submit your entry form, entry fee, and media files by clicking here. After registering and/or logging in (by using your BEA member login and password) choose “Click here” to begin a new submission.
Notification will be sent to the lead author/producer of accepted/winning submissions by Friday, January 8, 2016.
