Ann Marie Allison, Screenwriting Mentor, Low-Residency MFA in Screenwriting, University of Georgia
Ann Marie Allison is a filmmaker known for her witty, boundary-pushing stories about love and the hilarious ways we mess it up. Her writing has been called “gender-bending” and “subtly hilarious” by the Wall Street Journal. She’s worked with top studios like Sony, Netflix, and Amazon, and co-wrote and produced Golden Arm, a female buddy comedy with a 100% “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Ann Marie co-wrote and executive produced The Fabulous Four, a star-studded comedy featuring Susan Sarandon, Bette Midler, and Megan Mullally. After directing short films for over a decade, Ann Marie made her feature directorial debut in 2024 with You’re Dating A Narcissist!, a rom-com based on her original script, co-written with true stories from friends and family. The film stars Marisa Tomei, Sherry Cola, and Ciara Bravo, and brings a fresh, comedic twist to the ups and downs of modern relationships. Ann Marie graduated from the University of Georgia, where she also played volleyball. Go Dawgs! She lives in Atlanta with her husband, her two sons and their very spoiled dog, Louie.
Adam Davis, Sr. Manager of Franchise and Marketing at Marvel Studios
Armed with a diverse creative palette honed by years of working at Marvel Studios, Writer/Director Adam Davis has created numerous short and feature films, including Broken Ceiling and No Touching, the latter of which won the Silver Audience Award at the 2016 Fantasia Film Festival and has garnered over a million views on YouTube. He was also a finalist in the 2022 Screencraft Horror Competition.
Most recently, Adam co-wrote and co-produced the horror feature Curse of the Sin Eater, released in 2024. He also wrote, produced, and directed Orum, a horror short starring genre icons Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), and Kristina Klebe (Halloween). Orum was nominated for Best Horror Short and Best Supporting Actor at the 2024 Nightmares Film Festival.
Matthew Evans, Professor of screenwriting at the University of Georgia
Matthew Evans is an award-winning writer and professor of screenwriting at the University of Georgia’s department of Entertainment and Media Studies. Originally from Denver, Evans moved to Los Angeles in 2011 where he sold a screenplay to HBO and was inducted into the Writers Guild of America, West. Since then, he has written or developed film and television projects for numerous directors and producers, including Thomas Carter, Michelle Manning, Mathieu Bonzon, and Eric Christian Olsen at CBS TV. Before joining UGA, Evans also worked as a story analyst for Pressman Films, The Tribeca Film Institute, Alcon Entertainment, and Amazon Studios. Scripts written by students in his classes have gone on to win major screenwriting competitions, including the top prize at the 2023 Atlanta Film Festival Screenplay Competition and the 2021 BEA Festival of Media Arts. He is based in Athens, Georgia and is currently developing a ski comedy-drama with producer Jeremy Steckler.
Jon Stahl, Screenwriter and a Professor of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University
Jon Stahl is a screenwriter and a Professor of Cinema and Television Arts at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He received his M.F.A. in Screenwriting from UCLA and has optioned feature-length scripts to such producers as David Foster (THE RIVER WILD, McCABE AND MRS. MILLER), Cari-Esta Albert (THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS AND DOGS), Jonathan Prince (AMERICAN DREAMS, THE CLEANER), Meg Ryan’s Prufrock Pictures (FRENCH KISS, THE WEDDING PLANNER) and Rhino Films (FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS, THE SESSIONS). Altschuler Krinsky Works (SILICON VALLEY, LOPEZ) and New Media Vision (THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA) have optioned half-hour TV comedy series that Jon created. His feature length project PARK AVENUE BASEBALL placed first in the Broadcast Education Association’s juried faculty scriptwriting competition and was named “Best of Fest” in BEA’s Festival of Media Arts. At CSUN, Jon served as Chair of the Department of Cinema and Television Arts for seven years, and he was head of the undergraduate Screenwriting program for fifteen years. He is a member of the Broadcast Education Association, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the University Film and Video Association, and is the president of the local chapter of the Rufus T. Firefly Appreciation Society.
Rosanne Welch, Executive Director of the MFA in TV and Screenwriting Program at Stephens College
Rosanne Welch, Ph.D., serves as the Executive Director of the MFA in TV and Screenwriting Program at Stephens College in Los Angeles. Her writing credits include Beverly Hills 90210, Picket Fences, ABCNEWS Nightline, and Touched by an Angel. She edited the anthology When Women Wrote Hollywood, which was named runner-up for the Susan Koppelman Award by the Popular Culture Association. She co-edited Women in American History: A Social, Political, and Cultural Encyclopedia, which was named to the Outstanding References Sources List and the list of Best Historical Materials by the American Library Association. She wrote Why the Monkees Matter: Teenagers, Television and American Popular Culture. She also wrote America’s Forgotten Founding Father: A Novel Based on the Life of Filippo Mazzei. She serves as Book Reviews editor for the Journal of Screenwriting, and she is on the editorial board for the Writers Guild Written By magazine and the California History Journal. She also served two terms as an elected member of the executive committee of the International Screenwriting Research Network. She presented a TEDx talk, The Importance of Having a Female Voice in the Room. She regularly serves as a panelist for the Writing Division “Pitch” and “Q&A” sessions at the annual Broadcast Education Association conference.
