JoME Generates Global Buzz!<\/strong><\/p>\n

The January 2016 issue of the Journal of Media Education<\/a> is generating significant interest among members of the media and tech industries worldwide due in large part to an article on the use of digital devices in the classroom.<\/p>\n

A study by author Barney McCoy, an associate professor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of\u00a0Nebraska<\/strong>-Lincoln, shows that students spend nearly twenty percent of their time in class distracted by the use of their personal digital devices.\u00a0 This is a cause for concern for both parents and teachers. \u201cIf one were to monetize the cost to students of classroom digital distractions over\u00a0the span of\u00a0a four-year college degree program, the cost of those distractions\u00a0might easily run in the tens of thousands of dollars\u201d, says McCoy.<\/p>\n
