The competition welcomes entries in any language as long as English subtitles or transcripts (for audio projects) are included.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>You are eligible to enter the International Competition if&#8230;<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You were a full-time faculty member\u00a0 from a\u00a0 non-U.S.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> based university or college during the applicable completion window (see competition rules for details)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your entry was produced while residing outside of the U.S. (including U.S. territories)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>A BEA individual member or a member of a WJEC member organization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those not eligible to enter the International Competition<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>please submit your entry to ANOTHER BEA Festival competition.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*Continental U.S., Hawaii and Alaska\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Works produced outside the U.S.* may be entered in either the International Competition or another BEA Festival Competition, but not both.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Entry Submission Categories<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Audio Category\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Audio Competition\u00a0welcomes submissions that showcase audio storytelling skills for radio broadcast or digital audiences across a range of content areas, such as: advertising\/promotion, entertainment, instruction, news, sports, etc. Entries typically include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short-form entries such as commercials\/spot advertising, promotional, news packages, and public service announcements\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long-form entries such as podcasts, radio documentaries, news features, and specialty programs\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Documentary Category <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Documentary Competition\u00a0encourages submissions that showcase nonfiction documentaries. Promotional videos are not allowed. Therefore, a sponsor\/funding source of a submitted documentary cannot also be its subject (e.g. a historical documentary about your school cannot be funded by your school). This includes \u2018in-kind\u2019 support beyond what is normally offered in producing outside documentaries. Promotional videos are entered in the Film and Video category. Entries include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short Form Video or Film Documentaries\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long Form Video or Film Documentaries\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Film and Video Category\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Film and Video Competition welcomes submissions that showcase film and video projects across a range of narrative and commercial content areas, such as: advertising\/promotion, entertainment, instruction, narrative film, sports, etc. Entries typically include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Short-form projects include Commercials\/Spot Advertising, Promotional, and Public Service Announcements\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Long-form projects include promotional videos, narrative films, and specialty programs such as educational or instructional videos\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Television News Category <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The\u00a0Television News Competition\u00a0(faculty or student) showcases outstanding video storytelling for television broadcast or digital audiences. Entries typically include, but are not limited to, the following types of submissions:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feature and hard news reporting,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">newscasts,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">news magazine\/public affairs programming.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Eligibility Requirements*<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (see submission qualifications above)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>COMPLETION WINDOW:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Only faculty works completed between December 15, 2020 and December 15, 2022<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0are eligible for submission.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>FACULTY STATUS:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The creative competition is open to faculty\u00a0 who completed their entry while employed at a college or university. Predominant Authorship and Originality: The Festival of Media Arts invites submissions of original creative works in which the entrant\u00a0maintained predominant authorship over the project\u2019s content and aesthetics (producing, directing, writing, editing, etc.).\u00a0Entries under the role of executive producer are accepted ONLY if as producer the entrant was significantly involved in\u00a0the entry\u2019s design and creation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>LEGAL PERMISSIONS:\u00a0<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The entrant agrees that all licenses, copyrights, and permissions have been cleared to ensure that the submission can legally and ethically be presented at the BEA Festival of Media Arts and online at the BEA website.
