CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

For 47 years, BEA has been serving as a higher education association of professors and industry professionals who teach college students, worldwide, and prepare them to go into the broadcasting and related emerging technologies professions upon graduation from college.

BEA is seeking nominations for the Eleventh Annual Outstanding Dissertation Award. Established by Kenneth Harwood, Professor at the University of Houston and a former President of the BEA Board of Directors, the award offers $1,000 for the outstanding Ph.D. dissertation in broadcasting and electronic media completed during the period of January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2001. The award has been established through gifts started by Professor Harwood and a donation from a friend of BEA.

Nominations must be made in writing by the dissertation director or by the department chairperson of the degree-granting institution. Dissertations nominated for the award without the support of the dissertation director or the department will not be considered. Nominees must have been awarded the Ph.D. after January 1, 2001, and before December 31, 2001.

Nomination materials must be received by the BEA worldwide Headquarters no later than the deadline of Friday, January 18, 2002 and must include the following:

1. Letter of nomination from the dissertation director or by the department chair of the degree-granting institution.
2. One (1) UNBOUND copy of the full dissertation, which will not be returned.
3. Nine (9) copies of a 500 word abstract.
Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will not be considered for the award.

BEA will distribute copies to the members of the BEA Dissertation Awards Committee/Publications Committee of the BEA Board of Directors for judging.
