HARRIS CORPORATION DONATES TO
THE JOHN BAYLISS BROADCAST FOUNDATION

Donation to Update Promotional Video
Designed to Attract Talented Students to the Radio Industry

Pacific Grove, CA - September 12, 2006 -- As part of its ongoing campaign to support the larger broadcasting community, the Harris Corporation Foundation has donated $10,000 to The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation. The donation will be used to update a promotional video for the Bayliss Foundation, which offers financial and internship opportunities to outstanding college students pursuing a career in radio broadcasting.

"The generous donation from the Harris Foundation will help tremendously in our efforts to attract talented and enthusiastic college students to radio," said Carl Butrum, president of The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation. "We must reach out as an industry to these young professionals, and Harris understands this necessity. We’re most grateful for their support."
"We’re delighted to assist in the Bayliss Foundation’s efforts to train and nurture the next generation of radio broadcast professionals," said Debra Huttenburg, Harris Broadcast Communications Division’s vice president of Sales and Marketing. "As a leading provider of hardware and software to the broadcast industry, Harris understands the radio business and the challenge of attracting students to radio. The Bayliss Foundation has helped exceptional college students get their start in the radio business, and their work is important to the future of radio. We’re pleased to help the Foundation achieve its goals."

The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation was established in 1985 to honor radio executive John Bayliss, an innovative leader in radio management and sales. During his 25-year career, Bayliss was owner/operator of Bayliss Broadcasting, president of Charter Broadcasting’s eight-station group, and president of Gannett Broadcasting’s radio division. He also earned Hall Radio Report nominations for Radio Executive of the Year and Group Executive of the Year in 1977 and 1978.

Bayliss Radio Roasts have raised nearly $1 million and funded over 300 radio broadcast scholarships. The Bayliss Radio Intern Program made its debut in 2005. This program places college students interested in a full-time career in radio with companies throughout the country for a paid summer internship.
