CARL BUTRUM NAMED PRESIDENT OF BAYLISS FOUNDATION

Pacific Grove, CA January 27, 2004 -- Bayliss Foundation Board Chairman Gary Fries, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Radio Advertising Bureau, announced today that Carl Butrum has been appointed to the newly created position of President of The John Bayliss Broadcast Foundation. Butrum will be based in New York City.

"Carl's appointment reflects the commitment of the Bayliss Board of Directors in 2004 to take the Foundation to the next level of development," said Fries in his statement. "The Board, with Carl's drive and energy, plans to increase its outreach into the Radio community, identify new funding sources, and promote the Bayliss Radio scholarship program to those people in the field who can help pinpoint potential recipients."

"Our medium must devote time and resources to attracting today's brightest broadcasting students, and that takes a commitment from our current industry leaders," Butrum noted. "The work of the Bayliss Foundation helps ensure the future growth of Radio, and I am honored that the Board has chosen me to lend my efforts to accomplishing such a worthy goal."

Most recently, Butrum was Executive Vice President/Director of Sales for the Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President/Corporate at Katz Media Group, a position he held for approximately two years. Also under the Katz Media umbrella, Butrum served as President of Eastman Radio from 1988 to 2000.

Butrum joins the Foundation in preparing for the 18th Annual Bayliss Radio Roast, scheduled for March 11, 2004. Lew Dickey, president and Chief Executive Officer of Cumulus Media, Inc. is this year's roastee. The Roast, held annually in New York City, benefits the Bayliss Radio Scholarship program, which awards scholarships to college and university students majoring in radio broadcasting.
